Super Mario Chess Set - Weird or Not?

Well, we all know Mario and we all know chess. It seems that every single tech geek out there knows these two very well. It would seem quite logical to mix them up, no? A chess set that includes all the Super Mario characters that we loved when we were little sounded like a very interesting and cool idea. The problem is that the Super Mario Chess set is definitely weird. It is cheap at only 40 bucks but there is one huge problem that everyone keeps talking about. Mario is the king, of course, but Luigi is the Queen. How can that be? Two male characters are king and queen of the set. What kind of message does that give to kids? HMM. Quite weird
